We are very pleased to announce that on Wednesday April 16th, Anacortes School District will have a presentation and appreciation event at 3:30 p.m. We will be presenting our new hybrid vehicles and also publicly recognizing Shell Puget Sound Refinery's funding of the two new low emission hybrid fuel vehicles.
The $47,000 contribution was part of an agreement between the previous plant owner, Equilon Enterprises, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Northwest Air Pollution Authority (NWAPA). Under this Consent Decree agreement, Equilon agreed to make major investments in plant technology to reduce plant emissions and also agreed to provide funds for EPA-approved local projects designed to reduce pollution.
Date: April 16th, Wednesday
Time: 3:30-4:15 p.m.
Location: District Bus Garage – 2201 37th St.
The vehicles will be on display and there will be a brief program that will include:
Ø Presentation and welcome by the District
Ø Overview and features of the new technology
Ø Comments by Shell Puget Sound Refinery
In addition to these new Drivers Education vehicles, the Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEP) funds have been used to:
- Convert SKAT buses to operation on ultra-low sulfur diesel
- Fund a marine research vehicle for students
- Provide ambient air monitoring equipment for Northwest Air Pollution Authority
- Fund other projects.
