Small Fuel Spill Cleaned Up at Shell Puget Sound Refinery
ANACORTES, WA- At 10:40 p.m. Tuesday evening, approximately 1 gallon of Vacuum Gas Oil spilled into Fidalgo Bay during marine transfer operations. The incident scene is located on Fidalgo Bay, approximately 1.5 miles southeast of Anacortes, Washington.
Containment boom was immediately deployed and the spill was contained.
At this time, cleanup operations are complete.
Shell's Oil Spill Response Team has coordinated efforts throughout the night. All appropriate notifications have been made, including US Coast Guard, Washington Department of Ecology, and Skagit County Department of Emergency Management.
Marine Spill Response Company (MSRC) responded to Shell's request for aid and assisted with cleanup efforts.
