Shell Puget Sound Refinery Open House 2002

Saturday September 21st

Bus Tours 11-4

Free Food 12-4

 

Plant tours  start at 11 a.m., buses leave every hour on the hour, last bus leaves at 4:

Tour guides are Shell personnel explaining the major units of the refinery.

 

Food service 12-4 includes free hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and pop:

Anacortes Noon Rotary and Fidalgo Island Morning Rotary will be serving.

 

Band 12-3:

Jerry Schreuder Band

 

Drawings every hour beginning at noon:

One $60 and two $30 gift certificates to local restaurants and one  $25 gift gas card every hour.  Need to register at the Welcome Booth to enter and need not  be present to win.

Shell Puget Sound Refinery Booth:                      

Product displays, general plant information, description of process, video presentation with visits by Molly Cule.

 

Shell Project “Better World” Display:

Slide presentation by a local Shell employee of a sustainable-use project in Brazil.

 

Shell Marketing and PSSP teaming up with Child Watch of North America:

Distributing KidGuard ID cards that include the child's fingerprints, photograph and other critical information for parents.

 

Health, Safety, Environment:

Information on the programs at the refinery, free bike flashers and visits by and Safety Sasquatch.

 

Pacific Rim Enterprises:

Giving away  2.5 gal environmentally friendly gas cans.

 

Women’s Forum/Shell WAVE (Women Adding Value Everywhere):

Women’s Forum is a local support network and community outreach group at the refinery.  Information will be available.

 

Shell Refinery Diversity Council:

Providing information on building diversity awareness in the community and refinery.

 

First Responders:

Providing any needed First Aid and information on rescue techniques.

 

Fire Extinguisher Demonstrations:

There will be demonstrations of home fire extinguishers safety and use every ½ hr  beginning at 11:30.   Also, 20 extinguishers will be given away during the day.

 

Fire Safety House:

Sponsored by the Burlington Fire Department, they will be demonstrating for children how to best vacate a burning house.

 

Petting Zoo:

Local 4-H groups will have pigmy goats, sheep, piglets, calf and possibly others.

 

Air Liquide:

Introduction of the company to the area and information on the new plant they are building.
